E-Commerce Case : MoMA Online Store !

Image_1_56

I like the new MoMA in New York, I love to shop in their 2 stores (Soho and Midtown), and I also like their e-commerce business (launched just 2 years ago). Here their website.

Clearly a niche, but a nice one ! Products are in the MoMA scope, stylish and design, there's a real "atmosphere" and product homogeneity within the store and it undoubtely targets higher income population.

Without any significant web acquisition marketing they should hit at least $6M sales this year and have an estimated very decent 3%+ conversion rate.

Obviously they don't do much CRM but could significantly boost  sales if they were. Nothing amazing in saying that by knowing and targeting your customer base you increase yield !

I'm convinced there are tremendous opportunities in many e-commerce niches, setting up great web inspirational stores, with the right product mix and top notch service levels (at content ,fulfilment and customer help levels).

Give me any segment and I'll show you what one could do e-commercewise !

"no beaubourg store"? it is a shame because we have such potential in France...

Michel is probably working on it already...
