On Apple's recent manufacturing quality, an interesting article here:

Michel, what is the periodicity of Apple laptops new releases?
I'm thinking of changing laptop (although very happy with my 3-year old HP compaq nx7000), and was planning to purchase a Macpro before your post. The thing is that: 1) Mac software isn't yet optimized for Intel CPUs; 2) Vista's coming out soon; 3) I'm hearing constantly about Apple's manufacturing problems: shutting down, heat, hard drives, batteries, etc.
Should I wait for the next laptop release to have most problems resolved?

I hope this answers your question. If it does not, or the answer is
unclear, then please ask for clarification of this research before
rating the answer. I shall respond to the clarification request as
soon as I receive it.
Thank you
