Palm yesterday unveiled the Foleo "mobile companion". A linux-based 10"-screen thin and light PC (1.1kg) with a claimed 5-hour-life battery, no hard drive.
It is designed to smoothly synchronize with the Treo. What's more, its $599 price tag ($499 as an introductory offer) is aggressive and should help.
Well, I like the form-factor and the design, but at this point I don't really see my self carrying a Treo, a MacBook and a Foleo as well (without mentioning the various power adaptors or spare batteries if on the go for a long time).
The Foleo could in some cases replace the MacBook when I only need PC power for email and web browsing, but as it is not a universal machine, it comes on top of already owned equipment. And in any case, there's nothing groundbreaking here, despite much hype since last november.
Definetly, nice sleek machine but I'd much prefer waiting and buy a $1200 sub MacBook to get all in one ! The Foleo is much too limited and I'd even call it a flop.
In my opinion, the best way to organize yourself is a Macbook synchronized with an iPhone!! And it's sooo more sexy and trendy!
But for 499$ I'm sure some people will adopt this solution!

I think your mistaking on the possibilities of the device: something enough powerful to do classic office task, web surfing and mail checking is exactly what most people need.
Except the "ultra-portable pcs" (like the ASUS U1F or Sony, around 1700 $ !!! ), nothing has such a mobility with a true typing confort.
